The sexual assault victim in Noakhali’s Begumganj upazila filed a fresh case Tuesday night accusing Delwar-gang chief Delwar Hossain and his associate.
Superintendent of Noakhali police Alamgir Hossain told New Age that the case was filed on the basis of the victim’s complaint to the National Human Rights Commission on Tuesday.
NHRC director Al Mahmud Fayzul Kabir, who spoke to the victim on Tuesday, told reporters that Delwar had raped the victim several times and captured video but the victim did not disclose it earlier as she felt insecure.
A team of the Rapid Action Battalion early Monday arrested Delwar at Siddhirganj of Narayanganj.
Meanwhile, police arrested two more suspects from Noakhali’s Begumganj upazila early Wednesday in connection with the torture of the housewife.
Noakhali police super Alamgir said that a team of DB police arrested Md Sohag, and Nur Hossain alias Russel at night.
The Rapid Action Battalion 11 meanwhile arrested Kalam, at Daudkandi in Cumilla.
Kalam was named as an accused in case filed over the matter on Tuesday night.
With this arrest, nine people have so far been arrested over the incident.
A video of a 37-year-old woman getting sexually assaulted and tortured by a group of men in Begumganj upazila in Noakhali went viral on social media on Sunday.
The video showed that the men, aged between 20 and 30, stripped the housewife naked, molested her and started beating and dragging her as she kept begging for mercy holding on to one of the offender’s legs in a village of Eklashpur union of the upazila.
It showed that the woman’s effort to safeguard her honour went in vain as the offenders paid no heed to her cries.
One of the offenders captured the video of the whole scene on the night of September 2 and uploaded it on social media on Sunday, 32 days after the incident, police officials said.
After publishing the video on Sunday, police rescued the victim who lodged two cases, one under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and the other under Pornography Control Act, with Begumganj police station Sunday evening.
