To review education strategies and explore ways to integrate Social Emotional Learning into literacy teaching-learning in the newly defined pedagogy of COVID-19 context and to clarify roles in SEL, Room to Read Bangladesh and #NextGenEdu jointly organised a webinar on Wednesday focusing Social and emotional skills to read the new normal world and the newly defined literacy.
Md Akram Al Hossain, senior secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Mirta Isabel Figueroa Fernandez, director of University Center for Social Participation, Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla, Mexico, Sean Bellamy, co-founder, Sands Democratic Schools, UK and Heather Simpson, chief programme officer, Room to Read led the panel discussions, said a press release.
Katelyn Rose Runyan-Gless, programme policy officer, School Feeding, World Food Programme was the moderator of the webinar.
The webinar led to wider interaction among the panel members and webinar participants. Through online group-work on the agenda of the day, a number of strong suggestions on how to minimise critical gaps and explore opportunities to co-create reimagined models came out from participants from varying tiers of education.
Representatives from different country programmes of Room to Read, UNESCO, UNICEF, Alokito Hridoy Foundation, Sesame Workshop, National Academy for Primary Education, National Curriculum and Text Book Board, Acumen Academy, Teach for Bangladesh, a2i – , Aspire to Innovate participated in this discussion.
