The Bangladesh Bank has not extended the tenure of restriction placed on bank accounts of the top brass of e-commerce platform Evaly.
On August 27, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit of the Bangladesh Bank asked banks to freeze the bank accounts of Evaly.com, its chairperson Shamima Nasrin and managing director Md Russel for 30 days under the Money Laundering Prevention Act 2019.
BFIU head Abu Hena Razee Hasan told New Age on Tuesday that the central bank had not extended the restriction period.
BB officials said that as the embargo had not been extended, Evaly could make normal transactions using the bank accounts.
