Two people including a Rajshahi University female student went missing after a small engine-driven boat, carrying 13 passengers, capsized in the Padma River in Rajshahi on Friday afternoon.
The missing were identified as Suchona, a student of Rajshahi University, and Rimon, a Class VIII student.
Zakir Hossain, deputy assistant director of Rajshahi Fire Service and Civil Defence, said that an engine boat capsized in the Padma River off Harupur area behind Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hi-Tech Park at around 5:30pm.
Eleven, out of the 13 passengers, swam ashore with the help of local people, while two went missing, Zakir Hossain said, adding that the condition of two survivors was critical and they were undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
‘We are trying our best to rescue the two others’, he also said.
