GB female students develop robot for nursing activities

Four female students of Gono Bishwabidyalay have developed a robot that can perform properly the duty of a nurse.

The robot, named ‘Advanced Biopola Humanoid Walking Robot’, was developed by the university’s CSE department final year students – Durga Pramanik, Mousumi Kona, Sumona Akhter and Afrin Ahmed Brishti, said a release issued by Gono Bishwabidyalay Sangbadik Samity, quoting the department head Md Karam Newaz.

Besides doing activities of a nurse, the robot, developed at a cost of Tk 40,000, is able to do works of a receptionist, the release said, adding that the robot is able to work online as well as offline.

It said that the works of developing it began on January 25 and ended on September 9 and finally it was opened at the CSE department on September 21.

CSE department teacher Shelia Rahman supervised the whole project, the release said.
