The female student of Dhaka University, who had filed two rape cases against the immediate past vice-president of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union, Nurul Haq Nur, and five others, filed a fresh case against a Facebook group and eight profiles accusing them of cyber bullying.
The new case was filed under the Digital Security Act with the Shahbagh police station in Dhaka on Wednesday night, said Mamun ur Rashid, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Mamunur said that the plaintiff did not mention names of any accused but submitted a few Facebook IDs to the police.
But, in her complaint, the student named eight Facebook profiles and a group, Swapner Dhaka Bishwabidyalay, and quoted from those posts.
The Facebook profiles were named after Tamanna Ferdous Shikha, Tamanna Akhter, Tajul Islam Akash, Sharmin Rijia, HM Hossain Bin Nur, Md Tuhin Mollah Hridoy, Mehadi Hasan Sujon ( Golok DHada), and Rejaul Karim Kajol.
On Sunday, the student filed a case with the Lalbagh police accusing Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Odhikar Sangrakshan Parishad convener Hasan Al Mamun of rape and five others, including Nur, of hiding Mamun’s ‘crimes’ and ‘threatening’ her.
In the second case filed with the Kotwali police station on Monday, she accused Chhatra Odhikar Parishad joint convenor Nazmul Hasan Shohag, the second accused in the Lalbagh case, of raping her and Mamun, Nur and the rest three of collusion with Shohag, abduction and defaming her on social media.
Nur and six others were briefly detained from a protest near the Matsya Bhaban on Monday night.
