Nagarik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna on Wednesday called on the Awami League government to publish a white paper on the issue of extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances occurred during their regime.
While addressing a protest rally in front of the National Press Club, Manna also demanded publication of a list of the affected people and also exemplary punishments of the people responsible for the killings.
Ranaggoner Muktijoddhader Santan organised the rally demanding trials of the killers of retired Bangladesh Army Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan and others killed without trials where Ishraque Hossain, son of freedom fighter and former BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka, chaired.
Manna demanded fair trial of Sinha killing who was killed in police firing in Teknaf and also killers who were responsible for extrajudicial killings and responsible for enforced disappearances.
Ishraque said that their organisation would set up a ‘mass court’ in front of the National Press Club if the family members of Sinha were deprived from fair justice.
DUCSU vice president Nurul Haque Nur, among others, spoke at the programme.
