Water resource state minister Zahid Faruk toured the circular waterway, the Turag-Buriganga-Tongi canal-Balu-Shitalakhya-Dhaleshwari route, around the capital city by a speedboat on Friday.
He also visited the proposed Tongi-Demra Eastern Bypass — the embankment-cum-road and railway alignment project to be implemented at the cost of Tk 20,744 crore.
The minister also visited the proposed site for the International Water Management and Research Institute, said a press release.
Bangladesh Water Development Board director general AM Aminul Haque, water resource ministry additional secretary Mahmudul Islam, BWDB chief engineer Md Abdul Matin Sarker, executive engineers Rashedul Kabir, Dewan Ainul Haque and other officials accompanied him.
