Bangladesh embassy refunds Tk 2.26cr from Ankara chancery fund

Bangladesh embassy in Ankara refunded Tk 2.26 crore after completion of a chancery complex construction in the Turkish capital.

The chancery project worth Tk 45 crore 76 lakhs was completed on September 3.

The complex includes a chancery building, an embassy residence, 229 seat hi-tech auditorium named ‘Victory 1971’, automated mechanical and electrical systems, masjid, gymnasium, display centre for Bangladeshi items, library for the reference books on Bangladesh primarily on Bangladesh’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, 1971 War of Independence and socio-economic development of Bangladesh, according to a press release.

A bust of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a Shaheed Minar, and 36 sqm mural works titled ‘Invincible Bangladesh’ as well as terracotta works on the rural life of Bangladesh were also installed at the complex.

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to virtually inaugurate the new chancery complex on September 14.

Bangladesh ambassador to Turkey M Allama Siddiki was the project director for completing the chancery complex.
