A judicial magistrate court in Brahmanbaria on Wednesday sent a man in his twenties to judicial custody and asked the district Civil Surgeon’s Office to screen his mental health condition.

The court gave the order after the man named Md Mobassher was placed before the court pertaining to a case filed against him for allegedly trying to kill a police officer with a knife on Tuesday afternoon.

Brahmanbaria Police Station inspector (operation) Ishtiaque Ahmed said that the case was filed under Sections 307 and 324 of the Penal Code on charges of attempt to murder and causing voluntary injures.

He said that the court ordered his mental health check-up after Mobasshar’s family had claimed that he had been suffering from mental illness for last few years and did similar incidents in the past.
