National Mourning Day observed in Mauritius

The Bangladesh High Commission in Mauritius observed National Mourning Day and the 45th death anniversary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding president of Bangladesh, on Saturday.

The commission hoisted the national flag at half-mast on its premises in Port Louis, placed a wreath at the portrait of Sheikh Mujib, observed one minute silence, said special prayers and held a discussion on his life.   

Attendants said special prayers seeking eternal peace for Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members who were assassinated on August 15, 1975.  Mohammad Shahin conducted the event.

Later, Bangladesh high commissioner to Mauritius Rezina Ahmed placed a wreath at the portrait of Sheikh Mujib.

Chief of the high commission Md Ohidul Islam conducted the programme.
