34 stolen Gopalganj univ computers found in city

Police recovered 34 computers, stolen from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University in Gopalganj a week ago, at Banani in Dhaka on Thursday.

Banani Police station sub-inspector Shahin Alam confirmed the information and said that the computers were recovered from Hotel Crystal-Inn of Banani area at 10:00pm.

Palash Sharif, president of Gopinathpir Union Juba League unit of Gopalganj, is the owner of the hotel.

The computers have been handed over to the Gopalganj Sadar Police Station on Friday, he said.

Sub-inspector Mizan of Gopalganj Police Station confirmed receiving the computers and said that two people were detained and rest of them are on the run.

Two persons -- hotel manager Dulal Mia, 44, and hotel boy Humayun Kabir, 24, were detained for their alleged involvement in the incident, SI Shahin added.

One of the owners of the hotel is also involved in the matter, said the SI.

During the Eid-ul-Azha vacation, 49 computers were stolen from the central library of BSMRSTU. On August 10, the university authorities filed a case with Gopalganj police Station in this connection.
