Three inmates killed in juvenile centre clash

Three teenage inmates of Jashore Juvenile Development Centre were killed as a clash erupted between two groups of inmates on Thursday afternoon.

The dead were identified as Naim Hasan, 17, son of Nannu Paramanik of Kabipur in Bogura district, Parvez Hasan Rabbi, 17, son of Roka Sikder of Moheshwarpasha  in Khulna and Russel, 17.

Officials of Jashore General Hospital told New Age that all the adolescents were brought dead to the hospital. The first body arrived at the hospital at 6:38pm and the last one at 7:40pm.

Jashore additional police superintendent Towhidul Islam said that the two groups were involved in a turf war in the juvenile centre.

The clash between the two groups leading to the killings started over a trifling matter, police officials said.

Later police rushed to the centre and brought the situation under control.

Towhidul said that none was arrested over the incident.

Due action will be taken, he said Jashore deputy commissioner Tamijul Islam Khan said that they were investigating the reasons behind the clash and the killings.

Mushfiqur Rahman, instructor of the centre, said that the incident occurred as a sequel to a previous clash that took place a few days ago in which some inmates of the centre were injured.
