Another cop dies of COVID-19

Another policeman died of COVID-19 in Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital on Tuesday.

Assistant sub-inspector Md Dolil Uddin Biswas, 58, of Jhenaidah police station, was admitted to the hospital on July 25.

A total of 66 policemen have so far died from the coronavirus infection.

Under a special arrangement, Dolil’s body will be taken to his village home at Nowda under Jashore Kotwali police station where he will be buried at his family graveyard, said assistant inspector general of police Md Sohel Rana.

A total of 15,627 cops have been infected with COVID-19 so far, according police headquarters data.

Off them, over 13,000 have recovered.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police is the worst affected unit with 2,750 infection cases.

Over 18,000 policemen are in quarantine and over 4,000 are in isolation, said police officials.
