The state minister for youth and sports, Zahid Ahsan Russell, on Monday gave clearance to sports organisers to resume sporting events and training activities at a limited scale, said a sports ministry media release.
‘Sports events and training activities can be started at a limited scale by following the guidelines of hygiene,’ the media release quoted Russell.
The clearance came a day after the sports ministry got permission from the ministry of health and family welfare to restart sports related activities along with a 10-point instruction.
On March 16, the sports ministry instructed all the federations and associations, except the Archery camp for 2020 Olympic Games, to suspend all activities after the first COVID-19 case was found in the country on March 8.
Archery camp was also suspended on March 24, following the one-year postponement of the Tokyo Olympics by the International Olympic Committee due to the pandemic.
The health ministry permitted resuming activities at a limited scale with maintaining physical distance, using masks, gloves and other kits for protections, conducting checkups on athletes on a regular basis, limiting people movement at the venue and sending an athlete in isolation promptly if he/she shows symptoms or if their body temperature rises above 98.40-degree fahrenheit.
The ministry also instructed to maintain cleanliness, use disposable utensils and other crockery for the players to take food, maintain proper waste management and to press precautionary guidelines through different mediums.
