Rajshahi doctor dies of COVID-19

Retired professor of the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital Mostak Hossain Ansari died of COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at the medical college on Monday. He was 64.

Ansari is survived by his wife and three children.

Bangladesh Medical Association expressed deep shock at his death.

According to the association, the number of doctors died of COVID-19 reached 74.

So far, 2,542 doctors, 1,860 nurses and 3,040 health workers have been infected with the novel coronavirus in Bangladesh.

Renowned physicians of the country like former Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons president SAM Golam Kibria, Popular Medical College principal professor TIM Abdullah Al Faaruq, Square Hospital ICU head Mirza Nazim Uddin, Ibn Sina radiology department head freedom fighter Abul Mokarim Mohammad Mohsin Uddin, Ibrahim Medical College microbiology professor Mohammad Mohiuddin, and Impulse Hospital Limited director Jalilur Rahman Khan, former University of Science and Technology vice-chancellor and surgery professor M Rezaul Karim, and former Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College director and professor of medicine AKM Mujibur Rahman died of COVID-19.
