Different recitation troupes paid tribute to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore organising online programmes on Friday.
TSC-based recitation troupes Kanthashilon and Prajanmakantha, Dhaka Branch of Bangladesh Uddichi Shilpigosthi, Swarosruti and others streamed programmes on their Facebook pages marking the 79th death anniversary of Tagore, which was observed on Thursday.
Kanthashilon arranged an online cultural show, titled ‘Joy Mritunjoyer Joy’. Former Bangladesh Bank governor Atiur Rahman was present as chef guest and noted recitation artiste Mir Barkat delivered the welcome speech at the programme, hosted by recitation artiste Golam Sarwar.
Recitation artistes Raisul Islam, Bilkis Ahmed, Nadimul Islam, singer Tanzina Tama, dancer Tamanna Rahman and others performed at the show.
Raisul Islam, Bilkis Ahmed and Nadimul Islam recited Tagore’s poems like ‘Chitto Jetha Bhayshunyo’, ‘Birpurush’, ‘Banglar Mati Bangla Jol’, ‘Antor Mamo Bikashita Koro’ and others.
Tanzina Tama sang Tagore songs Esho go jwele diye jao, Mono mor megher sangi and others.
Tamanna Rahman presented a dance recital synchronised with Tegore’s monsoon song Aj shrabaner purnimate.
‘Every year we observe death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore organising special programmes. However, we had to organise a virtual event this year due to COVID-19 outbreak. The event featured performances by both young and seasoned artistes,’ Golam Sarwar, online programme organiser of Kanthashilon, told New Age.
Dhaka Branch of Bangladesh Uddichi Shilpigosthi streamed a programme where renowned recitation artiste Ahsan Ullah Tomal attended as guest.
Udichi members including Sadia Khatun, Abdul Karim Shardar, Maria Begum Trisha and others recited Tagore’s poems at the event, hosted by Shikha Sen Gupta.
They recited poems like ‘Nirjharer Swapnabhanga’, ‘Sonar Tari’, ‘Prashna’, ‘Ananderi Sagor Theke’, ‘Joraye Achhe Badha’ and others.
Swarosruti arranged a programme featuring recitation and discussion.
Artistes namely Sukanta Gupta, Ananya Laboni Putul, Shanjida Shanka, Rana Ahmed and others recited poems at the event, hosted by Mir Masrur Zaman.
They recited Tagore’s poems like ‘Dui Pakhi’, ‘Hotath Dekha’, ‘Nirrbhoy’, ‘Mone Pora’, ‘Nirjharani’ and few others.
Sukanta Gupta said, ‘Rabindranath Tagore’s creations inspire and motivate us. His songs portray human relationship, nature and others. I have greatly enjoyed performing in today’s programme. I thank Swarosruti for arranging this event.’
Prajanmakantha streamed a live programme on its Facebook page where recitation artistes namely Sheikh Saadi Sristi, Nadi Shagupta, Shafia Khandakar, Rina Mahmud and Oithishi presented Tagore’s timeless songs and poems.
They recited poems like ‘Joraye Achhe Badha’, ‘Dui Pakhi’, ‘Hotath Dekha’, ‘Nirrbhoy’, ‘Sonar Tari’, ‘Prashna’, ‘Ananderi Sagor Theke’, ‘Mone Pora’ and others. Shumon Zaman hosted the event.
