Students and teachers call for release of Sifat and Shipra

On August 7, students and teachers of Stamford University Bangladesh held a protest rally at Shahbagh, Dhaka demanding release of two students of the university who were arrested after the murder of Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan.

Shahedul Islam Sifat and Shipra Rani Debnath, students of film and media studies department, have been arrested for narcotics possession by the police in Cox’s Bazar following the killing of Sinha.

On July 31, Sinha, a former military officer, was killed in police firing at Baharchara police outpost on the Marine Drive Road Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.

Shahedul Islam Sifat and Shipra Rani Debnath were his crew members and were arrested in connection to the incident as separate cases were filed against them.
