Bangladesh Cricket Board on Thursday decided to name the Youth Cricket League after Sheikh Kamal from next season to recognise his contributions to country’s sports.
‘In recognition of the contribution of Shaheed Sheikh Kamal to sports and cricket in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has decided to name the Youth Cricket League (YCL) as ‘Shaheed Sheikh Kamal Youth Cricket League’ from the next edition of the event,’ said BCB in a media release on Thursday.
Kamal, the eldest son of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was the founder of Abahani Limited.
YCL is an annual four team Under-19 competition, organized by the game development department of BCB to find young cricket talents, consisting a four-day and a one-day match in each round.
