Recitation artistes namely Rajina Wali Leena and Majaharul Islam performed at a virtual programme organised by recitation troupe Empathy on Wednesday.
The programme, titled ‘Sokoler Tore Sokole Amra’, was streamed live on the Facebook page of the troupe at 10:00 pm. It aimed at raising funds to support destitute people hit hard by COVID-19 outbreak and flood.
The artistes recited poems penned by renowned poets portraying contemporary issues and paid tribute to country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the programme, anchored by Shirajum Munira.
Majaharul Islam commenced the event reciting poet Muhammad Samad’s poem ‘Mujib’. Besides, he recited Bhaskar Chowdhury’s ‘Amar Bondhu Niranjan’ and others.
Rajina Wali Leena recited poet Abul Hasan Shahriar’s poem ‘Corona Juddha’, Nirmalendu Goon’s ‘Ami Aj Karo Rokto Chaite Asini’, Premendra Mitra’s ‘Nilkanthu’ and others.
‘It’s a great initiative by Empathy and I am really happy to perform in today’s programme. I urge the affluent people in society to stand beside the helpless. I hope they will organise more programmes in the future,’ said Rajina Wali Leena.
‘Empathy organised the programme to raise funds to support the marginalised people. Besides, we want to provide young recitation artistes a platform to showcase their talent amid the COVID-19 crisis. We will organise more programmes in the future,’ said Shirajum Munira.
