Ookla, a global internet testing and analysis provider, recognised Banglalink as the fastest mobile network in the country for the first half of year 2020, said a statement issued by Banglalink on Wednesday.
Ookla gave the recognition based on user-initiated results generated by Ookla’s Speedtest application, it said.
Banglalink’s speed score was 15.09 in the January-June period this year.
With millions of results obtained through the Speedtest app each day, Ookla has the most accurate and comprehensive view of worldwide network performance, quality and accessibility.
Banglalink chief commercial officer Upanga Dutta said, ‘At Banglalink, we firmly believe that superior internet speed is key to unlocking advanced digital services for our customers.’
‘For this reason, enhancing network-quality has always been one of our top priorities,’ he said, adding, ‘We are immensely proud of being awarded the fastest mobile network by Ookla.’
‘Our endeavor will remain to offer the best user-experience to our digitally empowered customers wherever we provide our services,’ he said.
‘To mark this great achievement, we have also unveiled a redesigned logo of Banglalink, which stands for our advancement as a digitally savvy telecom service provider while keeping our Bangladeshi spirit of courage and winning intact,’ Upanga said.
Ookla chief executive officer Doug Suttles said, ‘We are pleased to present Banglalink with the award for the fastest mobile network in Bangladesh.’
Doug said that the recognition was testament to their exceptional performance in Q1 to Q2, 2020 based on Ookla’s rigorous analysis of consumer-initiated tests taken with Speedtest.
