Police arrested two Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders in an abduction case in Kamarkhanda upazila of Sirajganj on Tuesday evening.
The arrested were identified as Kamarkhanda unit BCL president Pavel Parvez and general secretary Mamun Hossain. They allegedly abducted Rubel Ahmed, who filed a case over killing his younger brother Enamul Haq Bijoy, police said.
Rubel was kidnapped in a microbus on Sunday and later he was found abandoned at Shajahanpur of Bogura.
BCL leaders said that Bijoy was critically injured in a factional clash on June 26 when he was going to attend a memorial meeting on AL leader Mohammad Nasim.
Bijoy died at a hospital in Dhaka, nine days after the attack.
The victim’s brother Rubel filed the case against 10-12 BCL leaders and activists and four accused were arrested so far, said Kamarkhanda police officer-in-charge Rafiqul Islam.
Bijoy’s family said that they had been facing pressure since lodging the case and Rubel was abducted and later released.
Bijoy’s father Abdul Qader went to the police station on Tuesday for filing a case over abduction incident when BCL leader Pavel and Mamun followed him to the police station.
The leaders and their associates were locked into an altercation with police at the station before filing the case.
Qader later filed the abduction case against Pavel, Mamun and 10-12 others and police arrested the duo.
