Eminent television personality Md Barkatullah died of COVID-19 at a hospital in the capital Monday morning. He was 76.
He left behind his wife, renowned dance artiste Zeenat Barkatullah, and his two daughters -- popular actor Bijori Barkatullah and Kajori Barkatullah.
‘TV personality Md Barkatullah died of COVID-19 at the intensive care unit of our hospital today at 9:25am. He was admitted to our hospital on July 30,’ Md Moniruzzaman, a customer care manager at Green Life Hospital in Dhaka told New Age.
Barkatullah served as the General Manager of Bangladesh Television.
As a producer, he was responsible for memorable works including ‘Kothao Keu Nei’, ‘Shokal Shondha’, ‘Dhakay Thaki’ and ‘Nokkhotrer Raat’.
He will be buried in the Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard in Mirpur, a source close to the family said.
