‘Drug trader’ killed in Jashore ‘gunfight’

A man was killed in a reported gunfight, what the police said between two groups of drug peddlers near a brick kiln at Darmutia village under Keshabpur upazila at around 3:00 am on Monday.

The dead was identified as Moniruzzaman Moni, 25, son of Jamal Uddin of Darmutia village, an accused in 15 cases, said a press release issued by the media wing of the police.

In the press release, the police claimed that they recovered a one-shooter gun, two rounds of bullets and one kilogram of cannabis.

The police also said the man was declared dead by the attending doctor as soon as he was rushed to Keshabpur Upazila Health Complex after a `gunfight’.

The body was sent to Jashore General Hospital for post mortem examination.
