The much talked about Bangladesh Football Federation election and congress is likely to be held in September, said a BFF official on Thursday.
In response to FIFA’s query about BFF’s roadmap of its election, the football federation replied that the election would be held in September, if possible, informed BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag.
‘The main query in FIFA’s letter, which we got on July 22, was about the election roadmap, including the process and time of finalising the voter list,’ said Shohag.
‘We gave the reply on July 27 saying that the election date will be decided in the next board meeting within the second week of August. And the election would be held in September, if possible, ‘ he added.
The BFF also informed FIFA that they have already made a list of its voting councillors, which will also be approved as per BFF’s constitutional rules in the next board meeting.
‘We just collected the councillors names. Now it is BFF’s responsibility to approve the lists. The executive committee will finalise the voter list according to the BFF’s constitution rules,’ said Shohag.
The BFF election was scheduled to be held on April 20, 2020 but was postponed on March 27 for an indefinite period due to the coronavirus pandemic and on March 31 FIFA approved the current committee to carry out its duties until the election.
