Artistes entertained the audience reciting poems penned by leading poets in a virtual recitation show organised by Shonadhiti on Monday.

Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artiste Ashraful Alam, renowned recitation artistes Rajina Wali Leena and Mir Masrur Zaman Roni recited poems portraying contemporary issues at the event, anchored by Shonadhiti members Tanzir Sourav and Jesmin Bonna.
Ashraful Alam commenced the programme reciting Mahadev Saha’s poem ‘Tumi Ei Prithibi Bachao’. He later recited Akhteruzzaman Elias’s poem ‘Hey Nataraj Ebar Tomar Nachon Thamao’, Abid Anwar’s ‘Jalabayu Ghum’ and others.
Rajina Wali Leena recited national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s patriotic poem ‘Namo Namo Namo Bangladesh Mamo’, Jibanananda Das’s poem ‘Andhakar’, Ramchandra Pal’s ‘Barshar Adda’ and Jibanananda Das’s ‘Nadi’.
Mir Masrur Zaman Roni recited Nirendranath Chakraborty’s poem ‘Amanush’, Mahadev Saha’s poem ‘Bahudin Por Ekti Kabita’, Balai Chand Mukhopadhyay’s ‘Neem Gachh’ and others.
Besides reciting poems, the artistes also shared their thoughts.
Ashraful Alam said, ‘Poems can change society. In a poem, poets portray their emotions, feelings, ideas and thoughts through words and metaphors. I thank Shonadhiti for organising this show amid the COVID-19 outbreak. I really enjoyed performing at the event, and hope the troupe will organise more programmes in the future.’
‘This is a timely initiative by Shonadhiti. Such programmes can play an important role in entertaining people in this time of crisis. I hope the coronavirus will disappear soon and life will return to normalcy,’ said Rajina Wali Leena.
