Female journalist dies of COVID-19 in Mymensingh

Mymensingh-based daily Jahan editor Rebeka Yesmin died of COVID-19 at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital on Monday.

Mymensingh deputy commissioner Mizanur Rahman told New Age that Rebeka breathed her last at about 2:30pm while undergoing treatment at the dedicated COVID-19 hospital.

Mizanur, also the ex-officio president of the Mymensingh Press Club, said that Rebeka was buried at her village in Netrokona.

He said that she was admitted to the hospital following a brain hemorrhage on June 26 and later tested positive for COVID-19.

Including Rebeka, 17 journalists and media workers have died of COVID-19 while 10 others have died with COVID-19 symptoms in Bangladesh.
