‘Debris of Desire’ to participate in Shanghai Int’l Film Fest

Bangladeshi filmmaker Josim Ahmed produced film titled ‘Debris of Desire’ will participate in the upcoming 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival, says a press release.

The film will be officially screened under the 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival- Asian New Talent Award Official Selection segment at the festival, which will begin on July 25 and will end on August 2.

‘Debris of Desire’, a Bangladesh-India joint venture film, has been directed by Indian filmmaker Indranil Roychowdhury.

Because of COVID-19, this year the festival won’t invite international juries for the final review. Therefore, all films which are shortlisted for the Asian New Talent Award has been announced as Asian New Talent Award Official Selection. There won’t be any competition section for the best film, best director, best actor and actress, best screenplay writer and best cinematographer of the 23rd SIFF.

‘Asian New Talent Award department confirmed the matter to me in an email. I am very glad to know that my film would be premiered at a leading international film festival like Shanghai International Film Festival. The film will be screened on July 25, 29 and August 1 at the Shanghai Film Art Centre. This is indeed good news for the country’s film scene in the time of COVID-19 outbreak,’ Josim Ahmed told New Age.

Popular Bangladeshi actress Aupee Karim and popular Indian actor Ritwick Chakraborty have played lead roles in the film.
