Six JMB men held in Savar

The Rapid Action Battalion arrested six suspected members of banned extremist outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh raiding Vatpara area of Savar in Dhaka early Sunday.

The arrestees were identified as Md Omar Faruq, 28, of Rajshahi, Md Habibur Rahman, 48, Md Saidur Rahman, 55, Md Mahbubur Rahman, 55, Md Shafiqul Islam, 37, and Md Golam Mostafa, 51, residents of different areas of Jamalpur.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-4 conducted a drive in Vatpara area early Sunday and arrested the six while they were holding a secret meeting, according to RAB 4 senior assistant superintendent of police, Sajedul Islam.

A huge number of books and leaflets, which are used to establish extremist propaganda, were seized from the scène, the RAB officer said, adding that a case was filed against the six with the Savar police.
