A fire broke out at a shed in Chattogram Port Wednesday evening.
Chattogram Port secretary Omar Faruk said that the fire broke out at about 4:15pm at shed no 3 of jetty no 2 in the port.
At about 5:25pm the fire was brought under control after 1 hour and 10 minutes joint efforts of CPA fire control team, Fire Service and Civil Defence and Bangladesh Navy.
He said that there were various products including chemicals, chips, old clothes and cigarettes for auction in shed no 3.
The smoke from the fire spread to surrounding areas.
A five member probe committee formed led by CPA member admin and planning joint secretary Zafar Alam, said the secretary.
Fire Service and Civil Defence Chattogram division head Azizul Islam said that upon receiving the news of the blaze, 14 vehicles of four units of Agrabad, port, CEPZ of the fire service worked to control the fire.
Fire service sources are yet to determine the cause of the fire.
