A diagnostic centre was sealed off and its owner was jailed and fined for providing fake pathological reports to patients in the capital’s Demra area on Sunday night.

RAB mobile court conducted the raid at Sarulia of Demraand found that SHS Diagnostic Centre did not have expert doctors and medical equipment.

The diagnostic centre owner Showkat Hossain was providing pathological reports to patients forging the signature of a doctor who is working there in the evening, said RAB-3 senior assistant police superintendent Abu Zafar.

RAB executive magistrate Palash Barua jailed the owner for two years and fined him Tk2 lakh.

Abu Zafar said that a doctor was working there for a few months, but he left the job two years ago. Showkat was collecting samples from patients and providing pathological reports without any tests of samples and forging the signature of that doctor.

Meanwhile, another RAB mobile court led by executive magistrate Akhtaruzzaman raided Mohmmadpur and Adabor areas and seized 10,000 bottles of fake hand sanitizers, thousand litres of bulk sanitizers, and other fake medicines from there.

Akhtaruzzaman then jailed three people for one month to one year.
