Proper presentation is crucial when it comes to conveying the meaning of poem to the audience, eminent poet Muhammad Samad said at a virtual recitation programme held on Saturday.
Muhammad Samad said, ‘Poetry recitation is an art which has the power to touch hearts of the audience. As poems contain emotional messages, recitation artistes must put a lot of effort into presentation; otherwise the correct message of the poem will not reach the people.’
The programme titled ‘Apan Alo’, featured Muhammad Samad’s poems, a discussion on his life and works and recitation.
Renowned recitation troupe Sangbrita Abritti Charcha O Bikash Kendra organised this programme, which was streamed live on its Facebook page at 9:00 pm.
Samad also spoke on his journey.
‘My father was a farmer yet I managed to become a professor at Dhaka University. Dedication and hard work helped me to reach where I am today. During my journey I have read a lot of books and gathered as much knowledge as I could which supported me to reach where I am now. I urge the young generation to develop the habit of reading,’ mentioned Samad.
Recitation artiste Rupa Chakrabarti was present as guest and Labonnyo Shilpi hosted the show. They also recited Samad’s poems like ‘Sabar Upare Manush Satya’, ‘Pahare Ghum Ase Na’, Ekti Jubok’, Amar Chok Jole Bhese Ase’ and others.
Besides, Poet Muhammad Samad recited his self-penned poem ‘Dharmo’ and ended the programme reciting ‘Ami Tomader Kobi’.
