Artistes entertained the audience rendering popular songs of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore at a two-day virtual programme held on Friday and Saturday.
Eminent Tagore singers namely Salma Akbar, Lily Islam, Azizur Rahman Tuhin, Indrani Bhattacharya and Mahadev Ghosh participated in the two-day event organised by Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Samannay Parishad.
The music shows were streamed live on the Facebook page of the organisation on 7:30 pm daily.
On Saturday, Indrani Bhattacharya and Mahadev Ghosh rendered Tagore’s monsoon and romantic songs.
Indrani Bhattacharya sang Jani nai go sadhan, Badhu tomay korbo raja, Ami marer sagor pari debo and others while Mahadev Ghosh rendered Badal diner protham kadam phul korechho daan, Amay thakte de na, Mon mor megher songi and others.
On Friday, the event featured performances by Salma Akbar, Lily Islam and Azizur Rahman Tuhin, who rendered timeless Tagore songs portraying nature, human relations and others.
Salma Akbar rendered Amar sakol raser dhara, Pratidin ami hey, Megh bolechhe jabo jabo and Eso go jwele diye jao.
Lily Islam rendered Sarthak karo sadhan, Aj shrabaner purnimate, Jaani nai go sadhan tomar bole kare and others.
Azizur Rahman Tuhin sang Ami tomay jato, Mone ki dwidha rekhe gele chole, Amar priyar chhaya akashe and Badhu michhe rag koro na.
When contacted, Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Samannay Parishad general secretary Biswajit Roy said, ‘We arranged the two-day event to entertain music lovers in the time of COVID-19 crisis. The programme has received good response from music lovers. We will organise two music shows every week until the COVID-19 outbreak disappears.’
