Bangladesh Chess Federation finalised its six-member team for the first-ever online Chess Olympiad expected to be held in between July 22 to August 30.
The six players who will represent Bangladesh in the competition are — Grand Masters Niaz Morshed and Reefat Bin-Sattar, Women’s International Master Rani Hamid, Women’s FIDE Master Sharmin Sultana Shirin, International Master Fahad Rahman and Walijah Ahmed.
‘We have finalised our team for the online Chess Olympiad last week. We have selected players on the basis of their results in the last edition of national competitions,’ BCF general secretary Shahabuddin Shamim told New Age on Saturday.
Fahad and Walijah will compete at the Under-21 age group.
The BCF also formed a six-member reserve team if any player wanted to quit in the middle of the competition, informed Shamim.
