77 die of COVID-19 in Barishal division

A total of 3,537 people were detected with COVID-19 infection and of them 77 died of the disease in six districts of Barishal division till Tuesday morning.

Among the affected people, a total of 1,223 recovered after treatment, according to official statistics released on the day.

Out of the 3,537 coronavirus positive patients 1,757 were from Barishal, 542 from Patuakhali, 345 from Bhola, 320 from Barguna, 310 from Pirojpur and 263 from Jhalakathi.

Among them, 1,223 coronavirus positive patients of the division got release certificates after cured by getting treatment in the division, said physician Basudev Kumar Das, divisional health director.

Out of 3,537 corona positive patients, 119 from six districts of Barishal division were newly infected in the last 24 hours.

Besides, 66 in four districts of the division were cured from COVID-19 infection after treatment during this period, divisional health office sources said.

Total 77 people died of COVID-19 in the division, including 30 in Barishal City Corporation, 22 in Patuakhali, 10 in Jhalakathi, five in Pirojpur, five in Bhola and five in Barguna districts, the divisional health director added.

Divisional health directorate sources said that a total of 20,077 people were sent to home quarantine and 3,260 to institutional quarantine in six districts of the division, including Barishal City Corporation since March 10, 2020.

Among them, 16,940 completed home quarantine and 1,591 completed institutional quarantine and they received release certificates, divisional health directorate said.

Bakir Hossain, director of Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital, informed a total of 1,479 patients were admitted to corona isolation units at the hospital.

Out of the admitted patients at CIU of SBMCH total 119 died and among them 45 with coronavirus positive and other 74 with symptoms, he added.
