Bangladesh Cricket Board has extend their contract with Bangladesh’s World Cup winning Under-19 team head coach Naveed Nawaz and strength and conditioning coach Richard Stonier for two years.
Chairman of the BCB’s game development committee Khaled Mahmud confirmed the news.
‘Yes BCB has extended both of their contracts,’ Mahmud told New Age.
Naveed, a Sri Lankan who is now settled in Australia, and Stonier, an English fitness professional, guided the young Tigers to the country’s first World Cup win at any level earlier this year in March.
A high-level official from BCB game development wing, who sought anonymity, told New Age
that despite being the architects of Bangladesh Under-19 team’s momentous success, BCB didn’t offer them any significant pay raise, as the board had suffered some financial losses with multiple series and domestic tournaments getting postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Only one of them got a slight bump in their pay while the other extended the contract with previous remuneration, said the official.
