Another Bangladesh journalist dies of COVID-19

Weekly Uttamasha editor Khandaker Ekramul Haq died of COVID-19 at a Dhaka hospital on Sunday. He was 60.

The journalist breathed his last about 11:15am at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital, Ekramul’s brother Anamul Haque confirmed New Age.

He said that Ekramul was admitted to Kurmitola General Hospital on Saturday night after his COVID-19 test report came positive.

He said that his brother was transferred to BSMMU on Sunday morning.

In his professional life, Ekramul worked for different dailies and weeklies, including Weekly Robbar.

Anamul said that Ekramul was buried at his family graveyard at Chauddagram in Cumilla.

Including, Ekramul, a total of 11 journalists have died of COVID-19 while eight others have died with COVID-19 symptoms.

According to media houses and journalist organisations, until Sunday 536 journalists and media workers were affected by the coronavirus.

Of them, 403 are from Dhaka and 133 from the other parts of the country.

They are from 136 national and local media houses, including 80 newspapers, 27 television channels, 22 internet news portals, five radios and one news agency.
