Artistes from Pabna welcomed the monsoon season at a virtual programme on Friday.
District Shilpakala Academy- Pabna organised the programme, titled ‘Borsha Mangal 1427’, on its Facebook page.
The event, which was streamed live from 8:00pm, featured poem recitation, music show and discussion.
Popular tabla artiste Sanjib Das Nanda, singers Amirul Islam, Khandakar Raisul Rahman, Tanusri Das, recitation artiste Sarowar Khan Milon and others participated in the programme, anchored by Pabna-based singer Marufa Manjuri Khan.
‘The coronavirus outbreak has changed our lives completely. It has confined people to their homes. I am performing at a cultural programme today after a long time. This event is like a breath of fresh air. I want to thank District Shilpakala Academy- Pabna for arranging the programme. I hope they will organise more virtual programmes in the future,’ said Amirul Islam.

Marufa Manjuri Khan pointed out, ‘This is the 5th virtual programme by District Shilpakala Academy- Pabna. We have been organising virtual programmes since May to connect artistes and viewers amid COVID-19 outbreak. We want to thank Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy director general Liaquat Ali Lucky for his support in making the event a success.’
Recitation artiste Sarowar Khan Milon recited poems penned by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and Nirmalendu Goon. Amirul Islam rendered songs on monsoon like Rim jhim kajori and Ei meghla dine ekla, Tanusri Das sang Shawon ashilo phirey, Orey neel jamunar jol, Khandakar Raisul sang Aj ei brishtir kanna dekhey, Benozir Hafiza sang Ajhor Dharaye Borsha Jhorey and Marufa Manjuri Khan sang Sraboner dharar moto and others.
