They said that they would continue their programme if the authorities concerned did not pay any heed to their demand. One of the protesters has already fallen sick.

Their demands are — immediate formation of humanitarian funds to help students through scholarship, talking to the authorities concerned to reduce mess rents, taking steps so that students who left their mess can keep their belongings at their perspective departments, starting COVID-19 test system for students, teachers and employees of the university and ensuring free medicine service, and allotment of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib female dormitory after the university opens.

Meanwhile, on July 2, in an online meeting the JnU authorities decided to expand its medical centre using the university’s Abakash Bhaban, which was being used by cultural organisations.

Leaders of different organisations of the university condemned the move saying that the authorities should have chosen another place for extending the medical centre.
