A 25-bed COVID-19 ward and a 25-bed isolation ward have been set up at the Chittagong Port Hospital.
The wards were inaugurated by state minister for shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Wednesday.
Chittagong Port Authority chairman Rear Admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad, among other, was present on the occasion.
A total of 159 healthcare professionals, including 13 doctors and 36 nurses, have been appointed for the COVID-19 unit equipped with high flow oxygen supply.
The port officials said that an Intensive Care Unit also will be set-up at the hospital.
The four-storey building of the hospital has 150 beds and is divided into five blocks. As many as 6,000 staff of the Chittagong port will benefit from the hospital and COVID-19 ward.
