Apprentice lawyers, who passed the preliminary test for getting registered with the Bangladesh Bar Council but yet to take qualifying exams, put forward a demand in Sylhet on Tuesday for enrolling them as registered legal practitioners with the council.
They called on the government for taking necessary initiatives to this end as the Bar Council authorities are delaying the written and oral tests due to COVID-19 situation.
They placed the demand at a rally of Bangladesh Bar Council’s Preliminary MCQ Examination (session 2017-2020) Passed Candidates in front of the Central Shaheed Minar at Chowhatta.
Sylhet District Judges Court general prosecutor Raj Uddin addressed the programme as the chief guest while apprentice lawyers Monamul Islam Monayem, Sheikh Md Abul Hasnat, Litan Dev, Rezaus Shams and Mohammed Nijam Uddin also spoke at the programme.
