Music troupe Nibedan held a three-day virtual music festival on its Facebook page featuring aspiring and leading singers recently.
The singers entertained the audience rendering songs penned by the national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Atul Prashad Sen and Hemanta Mukhopadhyay. Besides, they also rendered popular modern, patriotic and hindi songs.
The festival commenced on Thursday. Singer Makbul Hossain rendered the songs Shurer guru dao go shurer diksha, Tomar gaan shonabo boley, Badhu emana badale tumi.
Sumona Das rendered Janma amar dhanya holo, Ke jas re bhatir ga(n)g baiya, Bahudin par peyechhi and Ashar shraban maney na toh mon. Panna Dutta sang Jani jani priyo, Moyurpankhi rater niley, Sandhar oi chhaya namey and Hum tumsey payar kitna.
On the second day of the festival, singer Nasima Shahin rendered Sanjher pakhira phirila kulay, Aaaj badal jhore, Banbdhua nidh nahi ankhi patey and Ek barashar brishtite bhije.
Shahid Kabir Palash sang Abar bhalobashar sadh jagey, Shurer bani mala diye tumi, Shawon ashilo phiri and others.
Sanjay Kabiraj rendered Hai barasha, Koto je tomake beshechhi bhalo and others.
The festival ended on Saturday. The concluding day featured performances by Salma Akbar, Suma Rani Roy and Lina Das.
Biswajit Roy, general secretary of Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Samannay Parishad, also the director of Nibedan anchored the three-day event.
‘The three-day virtual music festival has received a huge response from the music lovers. It was organised marking World Music Day. The audience really loved the performances by the aspiring singers and many have requested us to arrange such programmes regularly in the future,’ Biswajit Roy told New Age.
