Electrical and Electronic Engineering professor Satya Prasad Majumder has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of the country’s apex engineering institute Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology on Thursday.
Satya Prasad joined the university in 1981 at the Electrical and Electronic Engineering department.
He replaces same department professor Saiful Islam, who was appointed as the vice-chancellor in 2016.
Satya Prasad was a visiting faculty at Multimedia University (Malaysia), Gunma University (Japan) and University of Parma (Italy) for different period.
He also did some consultancy for Asia IT&C Programme, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation and Dhaka Chamber of Commerce.
He received the BSc and MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from BUET.
In 1991, he obtained his PhD degree in Electric and Electronic Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
His research interests include Opto-electronics and Photonics, Optical Fiber Communication Systems, Optical Networks, Solution propagation, Satellite Communications, Mobile and Infra-red communications with over 100 publications.
