Police on Thursday arrested Dhaka University student Sumaiya Khatun’s husband and father-in-law over her death in Natore four days ago.
Natore additional superintendent of police Abul Hasnat on Thursday said that they arrested Mostaque Hossain at Nandigarm in Bogura and his father Zakir Hossain at Bagha in Rajshahi.
Sumaiya Khatun, a master’s degree student of DU Islamic studies department, was taken by her in-laws at Natore Sadar Hospital where doctors declared her dead on Sunday night.
Police arrested Sumaiya’s mother-in-law Syeda Maleka and sister-in-law Juthi Khatun on Monday night hours after the victim’s mother Nuzhat Sultana filed a murder case with the police accusing four people for killing her daughter.
ASP Abul Hasnat said that they formed eight teams to arrest the husband and father-in-law of Sumaiya as they went into hiding.
Naotre police inspector and investigation officer of the case Abdul Matin said that the arrested would be placed before a court with a plea to interrogate them in police custody for seven days.
