Man killed in `gunfight’

A suspected `drug pedlar’ was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police near Kormja Eidgha under Santhia upazila in Pabna early Sunday.

The victim, Abdus Subhan, 48, a resident of Kormja of Santhia, was wanted in at least twelve cases with Bera and Aminpur police stations in the district.

Pabna Superintendent of Police Sheikh Rafiqul Islam said in a press release that the ‘gunfight’ with some miscreants took place in a graveyard near Karamja Eidgah ground at about 2:30am on Sunday.

After the gunfight, Abdus Subhan was found bullet-hit and was taken to Bera upazila health complex where he succumbed to his injuries at around 4:30am.
