A man was killed and 20 others were injured in a clash between two groups of Awami League over establishing supremacy at village Khajura in Jhenaidah sadar on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Faruk Hossain, 35, son of Golam Rabbani, resident of the village.
Faruk succumbed to his injuries Thursday morning while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Jhenaidah police station officer-in-charge Mizanur Rahman said that there had been a longstanding dispute between AL leaders Abul Hossain and Liton over establishing supremacy in the area.
Following the dispute, a clash between the two factions took place as some BNP activists joined the faction of Liton in a bid to join the ruling party.

Local people rescued the injured and sent them to Jhenaidah General Hospital from where Faruk was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition was deteriorating.
Later, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward situation, the OC added.
