Movement of all vessels and water transports will remain close on the Shimulia-Kathalbari channel for eight hours on Tuesday as the 31st span of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge is scheduled to be set up on the river.
The Jatrabari-Mawa-Bhanga highway-bound road transports were asked to use alternative roads during the period, said a press release issued by the road transport and bridges ministry.
According to the release the channel will remain close between 11:00am and 7:00pm on Tuesday as the span will be set up across the middle of the water channel on the River Padma.
During the period movement of all ferries, launches, speed boats, trawlers and other water transports will be suspended.
To avoid sufferings, people are being advised to avoid the Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga highway today and use the alternative route Dhaka-Paturia-Bhanga.
