Bangladesh Chess Federation has submitted an ad hoc committee to the ministry of youth and sports for approval which would replace the current committee once its four-year tenure comes to an end on June 14.
The BCF president IGP Benazir Ahmed had submitted the proposal to the ministry last week, informed the BCF secretary Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim.
‘As the current situation is not favourable for holding an election, our president decided this to keep running the federation smoothly. He submitted the proposed ad hoc committee to the ministry last week for approval,’ Shamim told New Age.
‘Our president discussed the issue with all before submitting the proposal. Now we are expecting to get the approval by June 10,’ he added.
The proposed ad hoc committee had four new faces and excluded current committee’s vice-president Gazi Shayiful Tarique, Mehedi Hasan, Rafiqul Islam and Monirul Islam.
Abul Khair Group deputy managing director Abu Sayeed Chowdhury replaced Shayiful as vice-president and current senior joint secretary Moniruzzaman Palash was demoted to the member post, with Bangladesh police additional DIG Shoeb Reaz Alam replacing him.
Elegant Chess Academy managing director Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury and Dhaka Chess Club secretary Sajal Mahmud were the other two new additions to the committee.
