Leaders of Workers Party of Bangladesh on Saturday demanded budget allocation for Amphan-hit people.
The party held a sit-in programme in front of the National Press Club presided over by party’s Dhaka city unit president Abul Hossain.
In the super-cyclone Amphan, vast areas of the country were affected, many died and embankments were damaged, Abul said.
He demanded special allocation for the Amphan-affected people in the upcoming budget for fiscal 2020-21 scheduled to be placed in the parliament on June 11.
At least 17 people were killed as super cyclone Amphan battered 26 coastal and northern districts with hurricane strength for 15 hours from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday morning on May 21.
Central leaders of the party Zakir Hossain Raju, Mostafa Alamgir Ratan, Murshida Akhter Nahar, youth leader Manik Hawlader and others spoke at the programme.
They also demanded compensation for the farmers who cultivated crops, later damaged by Amphan.
