The health condition of former health and family welfare minister Mohammed Nasim, hospitalised with COVID-19 infection, was improving slowly.
Nasim, also a presidium member of ruling Awami League, was admitted to Bangladesh Specialised Hospital with fever and breathing problem on Monday.
He had been feeling better since Tuesday and was taking normal food, Naism’s son Tanvir Shakil Joy told New Age on Wednesday.
Tanvir Shakil said that oxygen was still being provided as Nasim had lung pneumonia.
He said that all of their family members tested negative for COVID-19 on Thursday at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital but the condition of his father deteriorated Monday morning.
Nasim was given plasma therapy on Tuesday, his son added.
Later, Bangladesh Specialised Hospital authorities collected sample of Nasim for COVID-19 test for the second time and it found positive on Monday, Tanvir said.
He added that his 74-year-old father had been suffering from different health complications, including high diabetes.
